Hi! My name is Marcus Quinn. I'm an award-winning French-American senior at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, studying Film and Television with a focus on directing, writing, and editing. I'm also minoring in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. I'm based in New York City and Paris.
Throughout my life, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing many different cultures and art around the world. These hold very special places in my heart and have served as major influences in my life and interests. My family is precisely from six different countries on four different continents. My dad was born in the United States, and his parents were born in England and Ireland. On the other hand, my mom was born in Brazil, and her parents are from France and Senegal. I was born in Paris, France, and lived there for 17 years before coming to NYU. As a result, my two native tongues are French and English and having spent 12 years in an international school, I’ve also been able to learn some German and Mandarin.
These experiences certainly played a critical part in shaping who I am today, and, most importantly, have helped foster my open-mindedness, leading to the development of my creative mind. This, coupled with my fascination for cinema, is the main reason I wanted to become a filmmaker. Since a very young age, I’ve always loved to create things: drawings, paintings, collages, small constructions, or even customizing clothing. But throughout the years, I realized that I wanted to use my creativity and diverse cultural background for one art form which fascinates me above all others: film. My affinity for movies began as a kid when my brother, cousins, and I made short films. However, once I started watching larger cinematic productions, I was truly fascinated by the craftsmanship of these unique stories, sparking my desire to learn how to write and make movies myself.
Over the course of my time at NYU, I’ve been able to learn the numerous aspects of the filmmaking process and have grown tremendously as a person and an artist. As I mentioned earlier, my interests now comfortably lie in directing, screenwriting, and editing.
Fun fact about me: I’m a fervent football fan!
